In a disturbing development that should concern every parent, UK schools are now teaching children that Joan of Arc - one of history's most iconic female heroes and Catholic saints - "may have been non-binary." This latest attempt to inject gender ideology into classical education comes via Collins' "Who We Are" anthology, which is being used in secondary school English lessons across Britain.
The historical revisionism is as blatant as it is troubling. Joan of Arc, born in 1412, was a remarkable young woman who led French armies to victory and changed the course of European history. She did this not as a "non-binary" person - a term that didn't exist until the 1990s - but as a woman breaking through the barriers of her time.
The academic community has responded with justified outrage. Robert Tombs, professor emeritus of French history at the University of Cambridge, stated unequivocally: "Joan of Arc fought as a woman and died as a woman."
What makes this particularly egregious isn't just the misrepresentation of historical facts, but its the naked political agenda.
This pattern of retrofitting historical figures with modern ideological labels raises serious questions about what else is being taught to our children under the guise of education. Are we teaching history, or are we allowing activist educators to use the classroom to promote woke ideology?
Parents and concerned citizens must ask: At what point do we draw the line? When do we say enough is enough and do something about this? Our children deserve a real education, not woke programming.
The distortion of Joan of Arc's identity isn't just historically inaccurate - it's a disservice to her memory and to the students who deserve to learn about this remarkable woman who changed history, not as a symbol of modern gender theory, but as the extraordinary female warrior and saint she actually was.
